I. Introduction
Can Gio Island, is the particle of Can Gio Districts (located to the Southeast of Ho Chi Minh City about 50 kilometers). This area is the Mekong delta merger between Saigon, Dong Nai, Vam Co rivers. In 2000, Can Gio became the first Mangrove biosphere in Vietnam. Can Gio Island consists of thousands of species including terrestrial (monkey), marines (crocodile) creatures.

The climate of Can Gio mostly depends on monsoon, with two distinctive seasons. The rainy season starts from May to October, the dried season starts from November to April. In case you want to enjoy all the landscape of the Island favorably, make sure that you forecast the weather before packaging.

Can Gio is a depression, the average altitude of the Island is 0-1.5 meters, except for Giong Chua is the highest area at an altitude of 10.1 meters. During the rainy season, the Island turns to the soggy swamp, marshy and quite inconvenient for the vehicles.

The Island has no airport, so the only option is to travel via ferry, Long Tau river is the main route to Can Gio If you start in Ho Chi Minh city, cross Huynh Tan Phat road to get to Binh Khanh Ferry in Nha Be which usually takes about 30 minutes.

Can Gio Mangrove covers the area of 40.000 hectares, with the high density of the indigenous trees, some of them with the diameter is up to 25-40 centimeters. However, from 1962 to 1971, during the Vietnam War, the US army utilized tones of devastating substances including Agent Orange, defoliants killer that virtually demolished the ecology of Can Gio. Therefore, since 1979 Can Gio flora and fauna have been governed to recuperate. The most vital tree in this area is probably mangrove, mangrove has been brought from adjacent provinces to recover the ecology of Can Gio. After 22 years of persistently saving the forest, in 21/1/2000 UNESCO nominated Can Gio Mangrove forest as the first Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam, also known as Mangrove Biosphere Reserve.
b. Vam Sat Park

As mentioned above, the campaign in 1979 has vastly saved the Mangrove forest. Furthermore, it has incidentally built the most attractive destination in Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Vam Sat Park. This place is exploited for not only tourism purpose but also the home to many species like monkeys or crocodiles. Besides, you could also have opportunity to explore the bat cave, bats in Can Gio are assumed to be the rare species in the world.
c. Dan Xay Mangrove Forest

Since the inauguration in 2014, Dan Xay Mangrove Forest has become an ideal place to visit the natural scenery of Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, Dan Xay gives you the most empirical look to the habitat inside the Mangrove by activities including kayaking, foraging, cycling, camping. Especially, you could also challenge yourself by climbing to a 30 meters tower for a panoramic view of the Mangrove forest. Many others are available such as boat excursion, planting, playing with monkeys.

a. Can Thach beach
Located in Can Thach town, this is the most beautiful beach of Can Gio Island, the beach that remains untouched. Thanks to a good management system, this area is not overcrowded during the dried season.
b. Saigon Sunbay

This is the project regarding the complex beach resort. It is promised to change the economy of Can Gio in the future. Currently, Saigon Sunbay is under construction at 30/4 beach.
c. 30/4 beach

30/4 beach is the most famous in Can Gio. This area is named after Vietnam Independence day. When arriving, you would be astonished due to the black sand. However, you do not need to worry, because this is just the alluvium from Mekong Delta current.
3. Monkey Island

4. Can Gio Museum
Can Gio museum is the museum near the Monkey Island. One thing you need to remember is that the entrance is free. This museum is the presentation of flora and fauna species in Can Gio that dates back thousands of years ago. Besides, you could also learn a bit about the history of the Vietnam-America War, one of the most brutal bloodshed that took the life of millions of soldiers.
5. Guerrilla base

As you heard about the Vietnam-American War above, Guerrilla is a strategy that is used during this time by Vietcong soldiers. It is mostly used by the more feeble party to weaken the firepower of the other side. Guerrilla was strategically used to take advantage of green habitat to avoid the aerial sight.
6. Can Gio Saltwater Crocodile

Along with the monkeys, Saltwater Crocodiles in Can Gio are now available to be seen. The fact that they are being preserved in Vam Sat Mangrove forest, whilst visiting those crocodiles, you could also feed them from the safety distance.
7. Kite surfing

8. Can Gio temples

9. Can Gio market-Hang Duong market

Can Gio and Hang Duong market are the two most famous market in Can Gio. They start in the early morning and slowly dismiss in the evening. Seafood in these two markets is considered to be the cheapest in Vietnam. The fact that, thanks to the mangrove forest that brings the diverse marines life to the locals.
