No longer need for COVID-19 test to enter Singapore from Apr 26

With the latest easing of restrictions on people's movement in a COVID-19 environment, fully vaccinated and well travelers will no longer need to be tested for COVID-19 to enter Singapore. That is good news for your next Singapore tour!

1. For fully vaccinated travelers

All vaccinated travelers arriving in Singapore via air or sea checkpoints will no longer need to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test as restrictions for controlling the spread of the coronavirus are eased.

According to the announcement of Singapore from July 1, all long-term pass holders aged 13 and above traveling to Singapore will have to be fully vaccinated. The exception is applied to people who are medically ineligible for vaccines.

This is a change from the present rule.  Now, long-term pass holders aged between 13 and 17 can travel to Singapore even if they are not fully vaccinated. With the latest easing of restrictions, fully vaccinated and well-travelers will no longer need to be tested for COVID-19 to enter Singapore.

To sum up, all vaccinated travelers and non-fully vaccinated children aged 12 and below arriving in Singapore via air or sea checkpoints will no longer need to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test, effective midnight Tuesday.

2. For non-fully vaccinated travelers

The entry requirements for travelers who are aged 13 and above and not fully vaccinated remain unchanged, reported TODAY newspaper quoting the MOH statement.

This means that travelers still have to take a pre-departure test within two days before leaving for Singapore, undergo a seven-day stay-home order, and take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test at the end of the isolation period.

Such tests are also required for vaccinated travelers for now, until the new rules take effect.

3. Current tourism situation of Singapore

Singapore will be the first major economy in Asia to remove all restrictions for fully vaccinated travelers entering the island city as the government tries to restore the aviation and tourism industries that had been hit by the pandemic.

Air-passenger traffic reached 31% of pre-pandemic levels in the week ending April 17, up from 18% a month ago, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. The government aims to increase passenger traffic at Changi Airport to 50% of the level seen before the pandemic by later this year from 15% at the end of 2021, with almost S$500 million ($366 million) set aside to spur a revival in tourism.

“With these changes, we can now have a well-deserved breather after two very difficult years of fighting the virus,” Finance Minister and recently anointed prime minister-in-waiting Lawrence Wong said at the briefing. “Let’s always remember we are getting closer to the finish line, but the race is not over, and the pandemic is certainly not over.”

Thailand Plans to Implement Enter Requirement-Free from May 1

Being one of the strictest destinations in Southeast Asia after enacting some of the harshest border regimes during Covid-19, Thailand is finally easing travel rules once again. Having already reopened to tourism, the country is now planning to allow vaccinated tourists to enter requirement-free as soon as May 1, 2022.

1. Current situation

Currently, Thailand has 3 entry programs. Unvaccinated tourists must apply for an exemption to the entry ban and undergo state-observed quarantine upon arriving. Meanwhile, vaccinated tourists can apply for the facilitated Test & Go or Sandbox schemes, which we have detailed here.

The country has already released a timeline for the easing of entry restrictions and allowed vaccinated foreigners entry. However, international visitors must still apply for a Thailand Pass under one of the schemes above and satisfy other border requirements.

However, come May, Thailand may remove these requirements altogether.

2. Thailand Pass Could Be Scrapped As Soon As May

According to Mr. Ratchakitprakarn, he will propose an end to all these extra requirements vaccinated visitors must meet once Thailand’s Covid-19 management team meets again on April 22.

Should the Minister manage to convince the others, they could enact the change as soon as May 1. That allows fully immunized tourists to enter Thailand freely for the first time since the crisis started.

To bypass restrictions, all foreigners would need to present a valid vaccination certificate. As of April 2022, the travelers have to receive a full vaccination dose once 14 days have passed since the completion of a primary vaccination course, and no more than 12 months before the date of arrival. Having proof of a booster shot will extend the certificate’s validity.

Buddhist culture in daily life

In general, the following documents are necessary when applying for entry under the Test & Go program:

  1. A valid vaccination certificate
  2. Travel insurance with a minimum coverage of U$20,000
  3. The Thailand Pass
  4. Confirmation of at least 1 night of paid accommodation in an approved hotel
  5. Confirmation of a prepaid RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen tests on arrival

That means vaccinated arrivals no longer face a pre-departure testing requirement.

3. More Restrictions Could Be Dropped As Covid-19 Situation Improves

Thailand estimates at least 10 million tourist arrivals for the ongoing season. The Tourism Minister stated that income from tourism-related activities is markedly important for Thailand. Furthermore, he concluded by saying ‘Thailand is ready to welcome back foreign visitors because we adequately equipped our public health system”.

Covid-19 cases decrease across Thailand. The cases fall by more than 4,000 over the previous 3 weeks. That is for only 16% of the peak. Therefore, we expect this surprising destination to relax its curbs even further.

As soon as the news that Vietnam opened in March together with the entry policy was simple, I decided to go to Vietnam. I booked at the last minute 1 week in advance on March 28, 2022’. Indeed, this is the trip she has been waiting for for a long time, so it is so exciting to do it.

Recently, Vietnam has become more and more a premium destination for a golf vacation in Southeast Asia. The main reason to choose Vietnam as a perfect destination for golf lovers is firstly the perfect climate year-round as well as the variety of luxury golf resorts to stay in the country. The best golf trails of Vietnam include Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, and Da Nang golf courses. With so much adventure and beauty that Vietnam offers you will experience your favorite thrilling and luxury sport with the help of our luxury tour operators. Find out the best holiday to Vietnam and stay in luxury and comfort resorts while enjoying the mesmerizing beauty of Vietnam. Here below are some quick guides of golfing in Vietnam.

1. Best time to play golf in Vietnam

In general, spring (February – April) and autumn (August to October) are considered the ideal time to play golf in Vietnam. On these occasions, despite the weak sunlight, the temperature is mild and the weather is dry, which is extremely convenient to conduct an outdoor game of golf. However, the weather varies from North to South Vietnam. In the north of Vietnam (Hanoi, Hai Duong), in October and November, golfers can enjoy a cool and comfortable atmosphere with lots of sunshine and hardly any rain. The temperature is also quite mild (around 25⁰C). While in the Centre of Vietnam (Danang, Nha Trang) the most appropriate time frame for golfing here is February – May since it is not too sultry and has little rain. the weather here is never too atrocious for golfing and you can play golf almost all year round. In the south of Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau) the weather is never too atrocious for golfing and you can play golf almost all year round. However, it would be worthwhile to note that the ideal time runs from November to April when the climate is at its mildest.

2. Why choose Vietnam as the ideal place for golfing?

– Exceptional World Class Golf Courses
Most Vietnam Golf Courses are designed by the world’s leading companies and designers such as Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie, Pacific Coast Designs – PCD and many others have built some unique and challenging courses all over Vietnam. There are 35 golf courses operating in Vietnam, with another 65 projects at some stage of development, planning, and construction. Among the existing golf courses, the coastal areas around Danang and Nha Trang boast the country’s best. In particular, the Greg Norman-designed Danang Golf Club has won numerous awards and another Norman course, The Bluffs at Ho Tram Strip, is considered one of the best in the world. In addition, there are multiple 36-hole tracks in Saigon such as Vietnam Golf & Country Club, Long Thanh Golf Club, and Song Be Golf Club and King’s Island Golf Club, Sky Lake Golf Resort, and Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club in Hanoi.  With so much quality golf to choose from and all at affordable prices, Vietnam is breaking onto the international golf scene.

– Climate All Year Round
Vietnam is a tropical climate, there are considerable variations in the weather patterns throughout the country and when it’s raining in one place then it’s often sunny elsewhere. November to April is winter in Hanoi and North, this is the best time to visit Hanoi although it can get quite cold at times with temperatures ranging from 17-22⁰C. Danang is at its best from February to May. The climate in Ho Chi Minh seems most suitable for golfing all year round, most of the time is sunny and dry, and the rainy season is from June to October in Ho Chi Minh City, but it is not bad enough to ruin a golf round.

– Great options for Sightseeing tours
While golf is the core activity, many golf tourists are looking for a complete experience. This may be eating, drinking and entertainment, sightseeing, and experiencing the local culture. Vietnam is a place for all of these tastes. Besides golfing in Hanoi, you should not miss Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this place is like something right out of a movie. The fact is that Halong Bay features a wide range of biodiversity, while the surrealistic scenery has indeed featured in endless movies. While in Danang, we can visit the ancient Chinese fishing port of Hoi An which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a short distance from Danang. Other excursions in Ho Chi Minh City include a cruise along the Mekong Delta or a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels

– Easy to get to other destinations
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are the 2 biggest cities with international airports connected to flights from all over the world. Danang and Nha Trang are also connected to flights from Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea. There are plenty of internal flights and more and more low-cost airlines offering excellent value. Taxis are abundant and cheap, public buses from airports to some points in central are also available. This makes getting to your choice of destination for a Vietnam golf holiday quite easy and seamless.

– Great food in Vietnam:
Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for its fresh ingredients, minimal use of dairy and oil, complementary textures, and reliance on herbs and vegetables. Common ingredients include shrimp paste, fish sauce, bean sauce, rice, fresh herbs, fruit, and vegetables. In the major cities, you can still see the French influence with fresh baguettes on offer. If you happen to be near the beach, then you can sample the wonderful fresh seafood at very attractive prices.

Top 8 Amazing Hikes in Indonesia

Most visitors to Indonesia come for the sun, sand, and world-class surf. Besides that, Indonesia offers so much more: volcanoes, jungle, tropical islands with reality-defying views, and deceptively dangerous lakes for hiking tours. Therefore, if you are going to have an Indonesia tour, you may refer to some of the best hikes in Indonesia below.

1. Mt Batur, Bali – Best sunrise hike

Overview: 6.8km (4.2 miles), 4 hours, easy-moderate

Mt Batur is framed by the distant peaks of Mt Rinjani and Mt Agung, the sky burns with color if you summit in time for sunrise. You’ll need to get up early to try this experience. Most travelers leave their hotels at 3:30am. You’ll find yourself sharing the peak with plenty of other like-minded hikers and tourists.

The climb itself generally suits most hikers with a base level of fitness, and there are several spots to rest along the way. Come prepared with water, a headlamp (if you have one), and a good jacket for that cold, crisp morning air on top of the volcano.
Mt Batur, Bali

2. Mt Ijen, East Java – Best hike for natural phenomena

Overview: 14.5km (9 miles), 3 to 4 hours, easy-moderate

The midnight trek up East Java’s Mt Ijen is one of the most unique hikes in the world and another of Indonesia’s most popular. It is the best completed in the dark so you can see its famous blue-fire phenomenon: electric-blue smoke that billows out of the crater, created by a large amount of sulfur in the air coming into contact with the intense heat from the volcano.

The hike is generally easy and can be completed by hikers of any skill level. However, once you reach the summit, things become a little more complicated, especially if you want to descend into the crater. The footing here is tough, and unsure in the dark. You will also need to wear gas masks to enter the crater. Inside is a beautiful turquoise lake. However,  touching the water can be fatal  because it has the highest acidic level of any lake in the world.

3. Gunung Rinjani, Lombok- Best multi-day trek

Overview: 41.4km (25.7 miles), 2-3 days, moderate

Lombok trek offers a truly one-of-a-kind experience. On their way to the summit of Gunung Rinjani, the second-highest mountain in the country, hikers camp on the rim of the world’s highest caldera lake. This is where they can witness both sunrise and sunset from the roof of Indonesia.

Climbing to the true summit is hard because of strong winds and loose scree underfoot. There are two tracks to the top, and most tours take you up one side and down the other. Hikers will find themselves starting out in tropical jungle before walking through lush savannah and rolling grasslands the following day. If you’re lucky, a troop of black Javan lutung monkeys may even make an appearance.
Lombok, Indonesia

4. Tumpak Sewu, East Java- Best waterfall hike

Overview: Unknown length, 2-3 hours, Easy

Tumpak Sewu is without doubt the finest waterfall in Indonesia. Its name literally translates to “a thousand waterfalls”. When you stand looking down at the ribbons of rushing cascades, tumbling onto the rocks and into the pools below, that feels like no exaggeration.

From the viewing platform, hike down to the base of the waterfall using the dirt paths and steel walkways that cut across the canyon. There are a number of rickety, handmade wooden ladders to tackle too. Toward the bottom, the path disappears into a waterfall, and you have to climb down while holding onto a rope attached to the rock. Then all of a sudden, you enter Jurassic world, as the mist from the water fills the air.

Further down the canyon are even more waterfalls, with clear mountain pools where you can cool off and swim. The hike is circular, and you’ll need to make your way back up the way you came.

5. Gunung Api Purba, Central Java – Best hike for beginners and families

Overview: 2.4km (1.5 miles), 2-3 hours, easy

Central Java’s Gunung Api Purba makes up for in breathtaking views. Known locally as Nglanggeran, the hike to the summit of this mystical, ancient volcano floors travelers with its vistas. Towering rocky cliffs, wooden ladders, narrow slot canyons and boulders the size of large houses all need to be traversed in order to reach the peak.

A playful troop of monkeys greet hikers from the beginning, at Nglanggeran village. The route meanders over mossy stairs and past great hulks of rock until all that gives way to massive plummeting cliffs and sweeping views. There are five rest stops on the way with great sceneries, it’s well worth trying.

6. Padar Island, East Nusa Tenggara – Best short hike for epic views

Overview: 1.6km (1 mile), 1 hour, easy-moderate

This hike in East Nusa Tengarra boasts arguably the best views in the country. However, this fab rarely comes easily. Instead, it’s a tough 700-stair climb that takes you from the beach to the Padar Island viewpoint. This is where sweeping panoramas of the surrounding islands await.

Accessible only by boat, a few hours from Labuan Bajo in Flores, this stunning atoll holds the distinction of having three incredible beaches. Each with different colored sand – and all visible in one sweep from the 185m (607ft) summit, as are dozens of others. It is possible to visit and complete a day trip, but most hikers stay and explore the incredible Komodo National Park as well.

7. Mt Merapi, Central Java – Best active volcano hike

Overview: 8km (5 miles), 6-7 hours, moderate-hard

Towering nearly 2900m (some 9500 feet) over the city of Yogyakarta, Mt Merapi is officially the world’s most active volcano. Like a number of other Indonesian hikes, the trek to the top is best tackled at night. The reason is that you can watch the sunrise from the summit and avoid the incredible daytime heat.

From the peak, you can see five other volcanoes, many of which can be climbed as well. Most hikers are content with conquering the crater rim on Mt Merapi – no mean feat – but more experienced climbers can tackle the true summit. It’s even possible to camp overnight on the volcano’s crater rim.

Top 7 Places & Experiences in Malaysia in 2022

A Malaysia tour offers you a lot of exciting experiences. Peninsular Malaysia is also where you’ll find the buzz. Gastronomes, shoppers, and museum hounds can enjoy their fill-in cosmopolitan Kuala Lumpur, food-forward Penang, and cultural jigsaw Melaka. The following list of the best places in Malaysia may be useful for your next trip to Malaysia.

1. Kuala Lumpur is the best place to go for a whirlwind tour

Kuala Lumpur is the place that offers you the most experiences. There are chic shopping malls (like Pavilion KL and Suria KLCC). Moreover, a competitive cocktail scene and a sci-fi skyline can be seen in the Petronas Towers. It rises like twin rockets. Alternatively,  Menara KL glows like a futuristic lighthouse, where you can head to the 300m-high sky deck for an expansive view.

Additionally,  Kuala Lumpur comes accompanied by nature and history. There is courtesy of time-worn temples, Kopitiam (traditional coffee houses), and rainforests almost side by side with high-rise buildings. Besides, the multi-story Thean Hou Temple and ornate Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad force contemplation and wonder.

We would like to suggest some exciting experiences for a short trip to Kuala Lumpur. For example, you can listen to birdsong at KL Forest Eco Park, picnic by a waterfall at the Forest Research Institute, and less than an hour’s drive away is Mah Meri Cultural Village to immerse yourself in Orang Asli (indigenous) art and history.

2. Encounter pristine nature in Gunung Mulu National Park

Gunung Mulu is arguably Malaysia’s best national park. Between Gunung Mulu (2376m/7795ft) and Gunung Api (1710m/5610ft) are old-growth forests, limestone pinnacles, and deep caves, home to millions of bats that take flight every twilight.

DIY experiences include the Mulu canopy walk, a suspended ladder through the treetops; an easy ramble to Paku Waterfall; or the Botanical Heritage Loop Trail.

Rock pinnacles in the jungle

3. Penang is the top destination for food, drink, and sensory pleasures

Travelers flock from across Malaysia to try Gurney Drive’s seafood restaurants, Penang laksa at Lorong Baru Hawker Stalls, and seafood at the Chew Jetties. Beside char kway teow (a type of rice noodles), Penang can offer you more.

Inhale the tang of 500 herbs and aromatics at Tropical Spice Garden. Listen to the chatter of macaques at Penang National Park, the country’s smallest. Gawp at the architectural splendor of Khoo Kongsi clubhouse and the intricately carved Pinang Peranakan Mansion. Alternatively, get bang up to date with contemporary art at Hin Bus Station.

Penang is one of the best places to visit in Malaysia in December when the west coast enjoys good weather while winds batter the east.

4. Pulau Perhentian is the best island for sunshine and snorkeling

The Perhentian Islands are synonymous with brilliant beaches and marine life, plus there’s a party scene to keep beach bums dancing until the wee hours.

Coral Bay is the best for searching for spectacular sunsets. Green turtles can be seen on Main Beach. Late-night beach parties are perfect on Long Beach.  Besides, there are numerous beaches where you can go sea kayaking, and snorkel among parrotfish and giant clams, Alternatively, hardened divers can go deeper to visit wrecks and commune with clownfish, reef sharks, and stingrays.

Time your visit for the dry season between March and October (but avoid July, when crowds reach their peak).

5. Melaka is a cultural smorgasbord

Melaka is on Peninsular Malaysia’s west coast. Today, Melaka is one of the best cities to visit in Malaysia, thanks to its varied food cultures, hotch-potch of architecture, and alluring night markets.

Glimpse Portuguese history by clambering aboard the replica Flor de la Mar ship and sampling baked fish at Medan Portugis.  Alternatively, Time-travel forward to Dutch rule by touring the Stadthuys (now a history museum) and salmon-pink Christ Church. Other cornerstones of history are the ‘China Hill’ cemetery and Peranakan (Straits Chinese) mansions, notably the Baba-Nyonya Heritage Museum.

Moreover, colorful trishaws offer joyrides and history tours, while Jonker Walk Night Market is the evening’s entertainment, from open-air karaoke to nibbling on Nyonya zongzi.

6. Take refreshing upland hikes in the Cameron Highlands

Malaysia’s most famous hill stations snooze among the vivid green tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands. Temperatures seldom stray higher than 30°C (86°F), attracting locals and tourists alike to cool off in these 1300 m to 1829m heights.

Take a guided hike with Eco Cameron to marvel at orchids and hunt for the whooping rafflesia flower. You can also go alone on trails that extend right from main the towns of Brinchang and Tanah Rata (ask locally about trail safety, as robberies have been reported on some routes). Besides, Boh Sungei Palas has some of the best views, with Boh Tea Garden a close second.

7. Ipoh is Malaysia’s best unsung destination

Ipoh is the capital of Perak, a region of past tin-mining wealth. Also, it spawned colonial follies like Kellie’s Castle. Moreover, there are the regional delicacies – chicken bean sprouts, and bean curd pudding – that bring KL day-trippers piling into Ipoh eateries.

But for international travelers, Ipoh has remained firmly off the map. Therefore, if you’re looking for unique places to visit in Malaysia, head to Ipoh. Its hilly outskirts are jeweled with cave temples. Besides, statue-studded Sam Poh Tong has a crimson pavilion secreted away among the limestone cliffs. In town, street art by famed Lithuanian muralist Ernest Zacharevic splashes the walls, shophouses on once-notorious Concubine Lane retain their antique flavor, and the train station has attracted the nickname, Taj Mahal.

This is a good chance to plan a trip to Malaysia the next time. Therefore, we would like to give you a travel guide to Malaysia as well as some typical Malaysia tours.
